I have been playing with a new camera. in Scituate, Massachusetts

September 5, 2020, Mars in conjunction with the Moon

March 13, 2013, Comet PANSTARRS. The streak is ~30s of Earth's rotation.

March 20, 2011, Supermoon, a day after full behind the Scituate lighthouse.

February 20, 2008, Lunar Eclipse in Leo with Saturn (below the moon)

November 4, 2004, Closest approach of Jupiter and Venus with the 300mm lens.

July 1, 2004, 22:20 EDT, The Moon a day before full. Very low and colorful. 300mm telephoto. This one is 1 for 1 from the camera, with mild compression.

June 19, 2004, The Moon aged 2 days through 1000mm x 4.5" Celestron Nexstar 114 telescope.

March 24, 2004 We had a beautiful evening to see all 5 naked eye planets in the same sky: Mars was between Taurus and Pleides, Venus next to the Moon, Mercury beside the pine trees.

Saturn overhead in Gemini.

And Jupiter on the other side of the sky in Leo.

I finally got a decent exposure of the Moon. 1/50 second, f5.6, 300mm focal length. Even at that, Venus was in the exposure. This one is about 1/3 the resolution of the camera - to get Venus in.

While I was at it, I picked up some other constellations. The two dippers.

And the picture that started it all: Christmas night, 2003 - The Moon, Venus, and Christmas lights
